TRI-STATE CHAPTER HISTORY

The American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) Tri-State Chapter is an affiliate of the ASMC National headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.  The Tri-State Chapter received its seal of approval from National headquarters on February 6, 1997.  The chapter’s membership at the time of approval consisted of 26 Charter members.

In 1996, Ms. Dee Benson, the chapter’s first president, employed at the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) Finance Center recognized the migration of financial management professionals to the Memphis metropolitan area.  After months and countless hours of coordination with the ASMC National headquarters, justifying a need for a new chapter, and contracting other active local chapters, Ms. Benson received the approval of the ASMC National Executive Board to establish this great chapter.  She started an aggressive campaign to encourage participation from her co-workers, and fellow financial management colleagues.
